The Tudakul and Kuimazar reservoirs were included in the list of Ramsar sites.


In accordance with the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On approval of the strategy for the conservation of biological diversity in the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period 2019-2028" № 484 of 11.06.2019, the State Committee of Ecology of the Republic of Uzbekistan has successfully implemented 8 point of the Action Plan: "Ensuring that the reservoirs of Kuimazar and Tudakul (Navoi region) are included in the List of Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention)". As part of this activity, necessary information on biodiversity, ecological status and anthropogenic impacts on the territory was prepared and summarized. In August 2020, the Ramsar Information Sheet was agreed with the Convention Secretariat for submission of water bodies for inclusion into the list of Ramsar Sites.

On October 23, 2020, the State Committee of Ecology of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized a videoconference on the occasion of including Tudakul and Kuimazar reservoirs into the list of Ramsar Sites with participation of involved organizations, where topical issues of conservation and sustainable use of the wetland, as well as fulfillment of the Convention requirements were raised.
