Publication date: 07 July 2026

Since 2022, Turkmenistan, in partnership with the World Bank and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), has been undertaking preparatory work to advance the Central Asia Resilient Landscapes Restoration Program (RESILAND). This was highlighted during the Regional Dialogue on Resilient Landscapes Restoration in Central Asia, held in late July in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.

The program aims to addressland degradation, restore natural ecosystems, and strengthen resilience to climate change impacts through the application of nature-based solutions and integrated landscape management.

Participants expressed confidence that RESILAND willserve as an important platform for achieving long-term environmental and socio-economic outcomes, enhancing the resilience of natural ecosystems, and improving people's well-being.

Recall, from June 24 to 26, representatives of the Central Asian countries will gather in the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic to discuss joint solutions for reducing mudflow and flood risks, improving natural hazard monitoring systems, and strengthening regional cooperation in the context of climate change.

Regional Dialogue on Restoring Sustainable Landscapes in Central Asia “Harmonizing Policies, Developing a Roadmap and Digital Tools to Coordinate Joint Efforts” was held under the Central Asia Resilient Landscapes Restoration Program (RESILAND CA+) supported by the World Bank. The event was organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic in cooperation with the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC).
