July 14, 2023, the Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), Zafar Makhmudov, had a meeting with the President of the Legal Entities Association “Association of Small Hydro Power Plants” and the arbitrator of the International Arbitration Court under the Kyrgyzstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Elvira Borombaeva, and the Director of the CAREC country office for Kyrgyzstan, Kuban Matraimov.
The meeting discussed such significant issues as the coordination of businesses across Central Asian States (CAS) and the organization of the Green Forum of CAS business associations in 2024.
The meeting discussed how CAS business could respond to environmental and climate challenges of the region.
Elvira Borombaeva underlined the importance of experience exchange between business organizations of the Central Asian region. She came up with the idea to organize the Green Forum of CAS business associations.
The CAREC Executive Director Zafar Makhmudov welcomed the idea of the Green Forum. He believes that business involvement in climate change adaptation is extremely important. The business may be a pioneer in implementing green technologies, accelerating green growth and green investments.Elvira Borombaeva considers that CAS businesses experience a lack of relevant information about environmental issues. For instance, they need more information about green technologies and green development methods for business. She believes the CAREC may serve as an information platform for CAS business communities and provide business communities with recent updates on business green technologies. The CAREC, besides, may be a practice exchange platform where CAS businesses may share their experience in implementing green innovations in their companies
The meeting decided to start uniting the CAS businesses and coordinate their joint efforts on climate change adaptation at the economic level.
