On September 4, 2024, with the support of the UNECE and UNEP, a working meeting was held at the national level on the preparation of the National Report on the State of the Environment in Turkmenistan for the period 2017-2022 in the building of the Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat.

The review of the National State of the Environment Report (NSoER) is a detailed assessment of the progress made by the country in the area of harmonization of environmental and economic goals and objectives and compliance with international environmental obligations. The NSoER evaluates the work of countries to reduce total pollution, manage natural resources, integrate the environmental component into socio-economic policies, implement environmental policies and strategies, and strengthen international cooperation.

The meeting was attended by specialists from ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, national experts, as well as representatives of the public. Mergen Kepbanov, Director of the Project Office, was present from the project office of the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia (CAREC) in Turkmenistan.
