Final meeting and training in the frame of the «Supporting Turkmenistan in establishing State of the Environment Reports in line with UNECE Guidelines» project in Ashgabat city, Turkmenistan

On March 9-11th 2016, CAREC will hold a Final meeting and training in the frame of the «Supporting Turkmenistan in establishing State of the Environment Reports in line with UNECE Guidelines» project in Ashgabat city, Turkmenistan. Project was financed by Federal office for the environment of Switzerland (FOEN) and was implemented in Turkmenistan together with Monitoring of the Environment in Central Asia (MONECA) component of the Forest and Biodiversity Governance Including Environmental Monitoring (FLERMONECA)  EU project.

The goal of the event: introduce developed chapters of  State of Environment Reports and  organize training on best practices on reporting and indicators for government stuff  responsible for collecting material for the report.

Questions to be discussed:

-          The results of the development of sections of the environmental report on the four topics: climate change, water, waste and environmental management

-          Discussion the preparations for the Ministerial Conference on the Environment in  Batumi, 8-10th of June 2016

-          Introducing experience and practices of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia in the preparation of reports on the state of the environment

-          Discussing and collecting recommendations to systematize data collection and reporting on environmental indicators in the country on selected subjects.

It is expected that the event will target representatives of the State Committee on Statistics of Turkmenistan, the State Committee of the Environment Protection and Land Resources of Turkmenistan, Hydrometeorological service of  Turkmenistan, and representatives of public organizations.
