From October 4 to October 7, 2022, CAREC delegation headed by Executive Director Zafar Makhmudov will take part in the Ninth “Environment for Europe” Ministerial Conference under the slogan “Transforming the Planet” in Nicosia, Republic of Cyprus (https://nicosiaefe.gov.cy/).
The main thematic focuses of the Conference: "Greening" the economy in the pan-European region: working on the creation of sustainable infrastructure; application of circular economy principles to sustainable tourism and education for sustainable development (ESD).
About 900 participants from Ministries of Environment and Education of over 70 countries, including members of the public, international, regional, non-governmental organizations and the private sector are expected to attend the conference.
On October 5, from 18:15 to 20:15, CAREC in cooperation with the REC of the Caucasus and the Central Asian countries will organize the side event "Education for Sustainable Development and its role in promoting regional platforms for greening the economies of Central Asia and the Caucasus" in a hybrid format.
The event will bring together participants from 8 countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus and will be held under the auspices of the partnership of two regional organizations - CAREC and REC Caucasus.
Speakers from delegations of the Central Asian countries and the Caucasus including partner organizations will present regional platforms and initiatives on the green economy of Central Asia and the Caucasus, ESD, leadership, NEXUS, as well as the Central Asian Information Portal (CACIP) https://ca-climate.org/rus/cacip.php.
