On 18 September 2026, a meeting between Mergen Kepbanov, Director of the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan, and young professionals and graduates who had been successfully admitted to the Central Asian University for Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University) with the support of the Project Office was held at the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan.
As part of the cooperation between Mergen Kepbanov and the Central Asian University for Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University), the Project Office provided students with comprehensive support throughout all stages of the admission process, from preparing and submitting the required documents to completing the selection procedures and interviews. As a result, four students were admitted to master’s degree programmes and another four to bachelor’s degree programmes, and one candidate representing the Republic of Tajikistan was admitted to a bachelor’s degree programme.
All eight students successfully completed the admission process and obtained visas to study at the university. The upcoming academic year will mark the beginning of a new stage in their professional and academic development, focused on studying modern approaches to environmental protection, sustainable development and the green economy.
During the meeting, Mergen Kepbanov congratulated the future students on their successful admission and wished them confidence, determination and high academic achievements.
“For us, it is important not only to implement environmental projects, but also to support young professionals who can contribute to the development of the environmental sector in the future. We are pleased to have the opportunity to support students in pursuing their education and hope that the knowledge and experience they gain during their studies will be valuable for their future professional careers,” said Mergen Kepbanov, Director of the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan.
He also emphasized that studying in an international educational environment allows students to gain new knowledge, learn modern practices, and expand their professional networks.
During the meeting, the future students shared their expectations for their upcoming studies, their interests and professional plans. Mergen Kepbanov provided them with recommendations on their studies, professional development, and active participation in university and community life.
Supporting students in their admission to Green University has become one of the practical outcomes of cooperation between the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan and the university and reflects CAREC’s commitment to supporting youth development and the training of a new generation of specialists in environmental sustainability.
Eight young people — four future master’s students and four bachelor’s students — have already taken the first step towards a professional path that may eventually connect their knowledge and skills with addressing current environmental and climate challenges.
