CAREC showcases key initiatives in Uzbekistan at Eco Expo Central Asia 2025

Publication date: 20 June 2025

From June 19 to 21, 2025, Tashkent is hosting one of the largest environmental exhibitions in the region — Eco Expo Central Asia 2025, taking place at the Central Asian Expo (CAEx) exhibition center. This major event serves as a key platform for discussing current environmental challenges, promoting green technologies, advancing sustainable solutions, and strengthening regional cooperation.

Representatives of the Country Office of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) in Uzbekistan took an active part in the Expo, using the opportunity to present their ongoing activities, exchange experiences, and build new partnerships. During the event, CAREC staff held productive meetings with representatives of national and international organizations, including:

-       The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

-       The World Bank;

-       The Asian Development Bank (ADB);

-       The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP);

-       The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN);

-       The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF);

-       The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ);

-       KOICA, and others working in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development.

“Participation in Eco Expo offered a valuable opportunity to showcase CAREC’s key initiatives in Uzbekistan — including climate change adaptation, integrated water resource management, and cooperation with civil society — as well as to receive constructive feedback from partners and stakeholders. We would especially like to emphasize the high level of organization of the event. The Expo featured a well-structured agenda, with thematic panel sessions, workshops, and presentations, along with excellent networking opportunities. CAREC expresses its sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Uzbekistan for initiating and professionally organizing this important regional event,” said the Director of the CAREC Country Office in Uzbekistan, Nodirbek Rahimjonov.

Eco Expo Central Asia 2025 will continue through June 21. Visitors still have the opportunity to explore leading environmental practices, discover innovative technologies, and engage with the work of regional and international organizations in the field of sustainable development.
