On March 30, 2026, the International Forum titled “Dialogue for Sustainable Green Development: Investments in a Shared Future” was held in Tashkent at Central Asian Green University. The forum was organized by the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Agency for Forestry Development and Combating Desertification.
The event brought together representatives of government institutions, international organizations, financial institutions, academia, and the private sector to discuss sustainable forest management, mobilization of green investments, and strengthening regional cooperation in Central Asia.
The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) was represented by Nodirbek Rakhimjonov, Country Director in Uzbekistan, and Azamat Kauazov, Manager of the Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Programme.

As part of the forum programme, Azamat Kauazov delivered a presentation titled:
“Knowledge Management Architecture and the RESILAND CA+ Portal as a Foundation for Transboundary Cooperation and Sustainable Forest Management in Central Asia.”
The presentation highlighted CAREC’s approach to building a regional knowledge-sharing platform, advancing data digitalization, and strengthening cross-country collaboration.

In his remarks, he noted:
“Under increasing climate pressure and growing water scarcity, fragmentation of data and knowledge significantly reduces the effectiveness of reforestation efforts in Central Asia. To address this systemic barrier, CAREC, within the framework of the regional component of the RESILAND CA+ programme, is developing a concept of a Unified Knowledge Management System as a comprehensive architecture that integrates knowledge generation, dissemination, and institutionalization of best practices. A key digital core of this system is the RESILAND CA+ regional portal, which serves as a centralized digital infrastructure for data storage and aggregation of nature-based solutions.”
Special attention during the forum was given to the role of forests as a key driver of sustainable development, including their contribution to combating desertification, regulating water resources, and preserving biodiversity, as well as the need to transition towards integrated forest landscape management at the regional level.
The programme also included a ceremonial tree planting event, followed by a field mission to the State Dendrological Park, where participants took part in a joint tree-planting activity under the “Green Renaissance” initiative and the RESILAND CA+ project.
CAREC’s participation in the forum reaffirms its commitment to advancing regional dialogue, promoting innovative solutions, and strengthening partnerships in the field of sustainable natural resource management and climate change in Central Asia.
