RESILAND TJ. PESHSAP Organized a Training for Forestry Workers in Panjakent city

From October 21 to 24 of this year, the NGO PESHSAP organized a training for forestry workers in the Panjakent city, Sughd region.
The event was held as part of a program aimed at improving the qualifications of forestry specialists and strengthening their capacity in the field of sustainable forest management.

Purpose of the Training

The main goal of the training was to enhance the knowledge of technical and engineering staff in the forestry sector on sustainable forest management, joint forest use, and the key provisions of the Forest Code of the Republic of Tajikistan related to sustainable forest governance.

Format and Participants

The training was conducted in person and brought together 26 participants (including one woman) representing various forestry enterprises of Ayni, Mastchoh and Panjakent city.
Among the participants were chief foresters, engineers responsible for forest protection and restoration, specialists in cadaster and monitoring, forest rangers, as well as directors and staff of forest nurseries.
The in-person format provided a valuable opportunity for participants to exchange experiences, discuss pressing issues, and explore practical solutions in the field.

Training Topics

The program included presentations and training modules covering the following topics:

·        regulatory and sectoral frameworks in the field of forestry;

·        main requirements of the Forest Code of the Republic of Tajikistan for sustainable forest management;

·        principles of the Concept for Forest Formation and Restoration in Tajikistan;

·        forest pests and diseases, and measures for their prevention and control;

·        the Forestry Development Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2022–2026.

Outcomes and Significance

The training contributed to strengthening the professional knowledge and skills of forestry workers, enhancing their capacity for the rational and sustainable use of natural resources.
Participants emphasized the practical value of the materials presented and expressed their commitment to applying the newly acquired knowledge in their daily work.

PESHSAP plans to continue organizing similar training events aimed at building the capacity of forestry specialists and supporting the sustainable development of the forestry sector in the Republic of Tajikistan.

The training is organized under the Tajikistan Resilient Landscape Restoration Project (RESILAND Tajikistan). 

The Tajikistan Resilient Landscape Restoration Project is part of the World Bank’s RESILAND CA+ program, aimed at strengthening landscape resilience across Central Asian countries. Similar national and regional activities are also being implemented in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
