RESILAND Kyrgyz Republic: Enhancing Safety of High-Mountain Field Expeditions

Under the Kyrgyz Republic Resilient Landscape Restoration Project (RESILAND Kyrgyzstan), RESILAND CA+ Program, mountaineering equipment and field gear will be procured for the Tien Shan High Mountain Research Center and the Institute of Water Problems and Hydropower of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The objective of the procurement is to ensure the safety of personnel conducting field expeditions on glaciers and high-mountain lakes.

The list of equipment to be procured includes tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, climbing ropes, crampons, ascenders (jumars), carabiners, protective helmets, ice screws (devices for drilling into ice and setting up belays), and ice axes (tools for movement and self-arrest on ice and snow slopes).

The provision of this equipment will enhance the preparedness of scientific teams to operate in challenging high-altitude environments and reduce risks associated with field research activities.

Delivery of the equipment and supplies is expected by the end of May 2026.
