Publication date: 18 November 2025

At the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the representatives from the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) and the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) of the Uzbekistan Resilient Landscape Restoration Project (RESILAND Uzbekistan) held a working meeting.

The meeting focused on reviewing the current status of project activities, planning upcoming events, strengthening financial coordination, and exchanging experience in monitoring and evaluation.

The CAREC Executive Director Batyr Mammedov informed participants that the regional event, “Harmonized Approaches and Regional Cooperation in Forest Management and Restoration of Transboundary Landscapes”, as well as the Fourth Meeting of the Regional Coordination Committee (RCC), will be held on 9–10 December 2025 in Tashkent.

These events aim to strengthen regional cooperation among Central Asian countries in forest management, restoration of degraded landscapes, and the development of joint transboundary initiatives, including the establishment of the Peace Park and the alignment of harmonized policies.

A significant part of the discussion was dedicated to monitoring and evaluation (M&E). CAREC’s Programme Manager for Environmental Management, Lyudmila Kiktenko, held a constructive dialogue with the PIU M&E specialist, sharing CAREC’s practices and tools in this field.

She introduced CAREC’s digital monitoring and evaluation platform, which helps to:

·      systematize project data and track progress toward indicators,

·      simplify coordination between project teams,

·      ensure transparency in project implementation,

·      integrate best regional practices in M&E.

Lyudmila Kiktenko expressed CAREC’s readiness to provide methodological and technical support in adapting this platform to the needs of RESILAND UZ, which could significantly facilitate the daily workflow of project specialists and enhance reporting quality.

At the end of the meeting, Nodirbek Rakhimjonov, Director of the CAREC Country Office in Uzbekistan, thanked all participants for their constructive engagement and highlighted the importance of further strengthening cooperation between CAREC and the RESILAND UZ project team.

“We look forward to continued fruitful collaboration and hope that the outstanding financial issues will be resolved soon, enabling us to move forward efficiently,” said Nodirbek Rakhimjonov.
