As part of the implementation of the regional projects ReCATH Phase II and RESILAND CA+, a working meeting was held in Bishkek between Mergen Kepbanov, Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) Project Office in Turkmenistan, and Elvira Borombaeva, Member of the CAREC Governing Board.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to expanding regional cooperation and enhancing the involvement of private sector representatives in international environmental initiatives. Particular attention was paid to promoting the participation of Turkmen entrepreneurs in international exhibitions and forums dedicated to waste management, the development of the circular economy, and the use of renewable energy sources. It was noted that representatives of the business community of Turkmenistan are already actively participating in such international events, and that this area has significant potential for further development.
Another important topic on the agenda was the development of educational cooperation. Mergen Kepbanov informed the participants about the outcomes of his meeting with Bakhtiyor Pulatov, Rector of Green University, which took place during the Regional Environmental Summit (RES) and the Central Asian Climate Change Conference (CACCC) in Astana.
During the discussions, an agreement was reached on the possibility of providing youth from Central Asian countries with scholarships to study at Green University. The programmes are delivered in English and require a minimum language proficiency level of B2. Scholarships are available for both Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes.
The Bachelor's degree programmes include:
· Environmental and Sustainable Management;
· Ecology and Economics;
· Law and Green Economy.
The Master's degree programmes include:
· Sustainable Development;
· Environmental Law;
· Sustainable Finance;
· Circular Economy;
· Sustainable Tourism.
The scholarship programme fully covers tuition fees for the entire period of study and provides a monthly stipend.
Four scholarship quotas have been allocated through the CAREC Project Office: two for applicants to Bachelor's degree programmes and two for Master's degree programmes. The process of collecting nominations from potential candidates is currently underway. Elvira Borombaeva expressed her interest in encouraging young people from the Kyrgyz Republic to participate in this educational programme and emphasized the importance of preparing a new generation of specialists in the fields of sustainable development, environmental protection, and the green economy.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to further strengthening regional cooperation, expanding educational opportunities for the youth of Central Asia, and promoting joint initiatives in the field of sustainable development.
