Looking to start covering health, climate, and the environment? This opportunity is for you. The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) is opening applications for journalists and media professionals from Central Asian countries to participate in a specialized training on the "One Health" approach and attend the Regional Conference in Bishkek on September 14–15, 2026.
We welcome not only journalists who already cover healthcare, ecology, agriculture, or science, but also those eager to explore a new field and learn how to uncover compelling stories at the intersection of these topics.

Where can you find experts, and how do you ask the right questions when a topic seems overly scientific?
Participants will explore these questions during a specialized online media training on September 10, 2026.
Experts will break down the "One Health" approach using clear, practical examples. They will demonstrate how to spot these topics in daily news agendas, collaborate effectively with experts, and craft engaging stories for a broad audience.
Additionally, participants will receive a journalist’s checklist for covering the "One Health" Regional Conference, an overview of key topics and speakers, as well as guidance on conducting interviews and producing original media content.
And most importantly — the opportunity to report live from the conference
Selected journalists will be invited to participate in the 2nd Regional Conference of the "One Health" Program, taking place on September 14–15, 2026, in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
The conference will convene representatives from Central Asian government agencies, international organizations, researchers, and experts in public health, veterinary science, ecology, and sustainable development.
For selected media representatives, participation costs related to attending the conference in Bishkek will be covered in accordance with the organizers' guidelines.
Who Should Apply
Journalists, editors, correspondents, and content creators for online media and multimedia projects from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
