On April 8, 2025, the Final National Seminar was held in Ashgabat to summarize the results of the FAO-GEF project "Integrated Natural Resources Management in Drought-prone and saline Agricultural Production Landscapes in Central Asia and Turkey (CACILM-2)."

The event was opened by the representative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, Mergen Yusupov. A representative of FAO/the CACILM-2 project also delivered a welcome address.

The seminar served as a platform to present the key achievements of the project in Turkmenistan, including at the institutional level. The National Project Manager, Rahmanberdi Hanekov, together with national experts, presented institutional achievements, successful technologies to combat drought and soil salinization, as well as capacity-building efforts at the local level.

In the afternoon, participants discussed best practices, lessons learned, and possible directions for further work on sustainable natural resource management.

The seminar was attended by Mergen Kepbanov, Director of the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan. Following the discussions, he noted:
"The project has provided us with useful practices and solutions that can continue to be applied — both in Turkmenistan and in other countries of the region. The main thing is to continue cooperation and use the experience gained for the sustainable management of our natural resources."

The seminar concluded with a discussion of further steps to continue efforts in the field of sustainable land management, taking into account the results achieved and new priorities in the country's environmental policy.
