Kyrgyzstan will host the Central Asian Regional Forum "Green Economy - 2024: Green Development of Central Asia 2024» in a hybrid format in Bishkek on 23 October 2004.

The Forum is conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic with the active participation of JIA Business Association, Kyrgyz Association of Tour Operators (KATO) Unison Group, Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) and the support of development partners - Green Economy and Sustainable Private Sector Development Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic implemented by GIZ with co-financing from BMZ, EU and SDC; OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek.

Within the global and regional challenges, many experts consider the "green" economy as the essential tool for ensuring the sustainable development of Central Asian countries. Developing green energy, sustainable tourism, green construction, and waste management remain particularly relevant.

At the Regional Forum, CAREC will hold a sectoral discussion entitled “Green Economy” on renewable energy development in Central Asian countries.

The Forum is to respond to a need for an ongoing, joint dialogue between the governments of Central Asia and the private sector to identify potential regional-scale initiatives for joint promotion and implementation to ensure the sustainable development of the region.

Its objective is to enhance cooperation among Central Asian countries on priority areas of the green economy (on the sample of sectors of green energy, sustainable tourism, green construction, and waste management) and to identify regional potential to promote and facilitate its joint implementation.

In parallel with the Forum, it is planned to hold the Green Expo-2024 exhibition in Bishkek and conduct a site visit of green facilities around the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

The Regional Forum expects the participation of representatives of international organizations, business associations, the private sector, civil and expert communities, the public sector, academic and educational structures, and mass media of Central Asia.
