As part of the work on promoting available tools to develop the capacity of countries to act under Article 6 and Article 13 of the Paris Agreement, the team of the Regional Climate Action Transparency Hub (ReCATH) of Central Asia is working on the translation and adaptation of the methodology into Russian developed by the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT). To help participants better understand the guidelines an online workshop is planned for a wide range of participants. The purpose of the guidance is to help countries explore opportunities to engage in Article 6 activities under the Paris Agreement, in particular to understand the relevant reporting and accounting requirements.
This workshop is relevant for government decision makers, experts involved in the preparation and development of policies and national documents on climate and/or emissions trading systems, and academics.
Main topics of the workshop:
- Options for international cooperation in realizing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) through Article 6 activities.
- The conditions for engaging in different types of Article 6 activities, policy considerations, and the associated benefits and risks.
- The impact of Article 6 participation on national transparency systems, including integration with international reporting systems.
