UzWaterAware project awarded diplomas and prizes to nine winners of the contest of sketches and sculptures “Symbol of Water and Life” – three prizes in three age categories. Teachers, students, and schoolchildren of the National Institute of Arts and Design named after Bekhzad, the Republican Specialized School of Arts, and the Republican Art College named after Benkov took part in the competition.
The main criterion in the competitive selection was the thematic and conceptual component of the competitive sculptures (sketches) – how interesting, with meaning and creatively reflected the contestants theme of water resources in people’s lives. The jury of the contest included representatives of water and ecological state and non-governmental organizations, and journalists.
The short list included 48 works by schoolchildren, students, and teachers representing Andijan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Namangan, Samarkand, Tashkent regions, and the city of Tashkent. The works of the participants reflected the value and role of water in people’s lives; several works were devoted to the Aral Sea and the Aral region. As a result, 9 works were selected.
The winners in the age category “Schoolchildren of art schools” were the students of the Republican Specialized School of Arts: 1st place – Sarvarbek Gosikulov, 2nd place – Nozim Abdusamatov, and 3rd place – Mukhayokhon Zhumanazarova.
The leaders in the age category “Students and masters of art universities” were: 1st place – Nabijon Zoirov (Jizzakh region), 2nd place – Khayitmirzo Yokubjonov (Namangan region), 3rd place – Mamur Makhmudov (Kashkadarya region), representing the National Institute of Arts and Design named after Bekhzad.
The winners in the category “Teachers of art schools and universities” were: 1st place – Botir Khakimov, 2nd place – Andrey Grechkin (Chirchik), and 3rd place – Sherzod Kuryazov.
It should be reminded that one of the winners’ sculptures, in particular by Khayitmirzo Yokubjonov, was chosen by the Khorezm region administration for installation in one of the parks of Urgench city.
The UzWaterAware project is implemented by CAREC with the financial support of the European Union during the period 2016-2020. The overall objective of the project is to sensitise and generate a greater degree of awareness on the strategic importance of water saving, water conservation and environmental protection under the conditions of climate change.
