January 6 – Astana – Kazakhstan – A new Director Nuray Satimov has taken over the Country Office of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) in Kazakhstan.
Nuray Satimov has a wealth of experience (over 10 years) in environmental protection, management of an analytical organization, and advance of information systems. Jointly with the OSCE office in Kazakhstan, a project of a public hearings portal was implemented, recognized as one of the best forms of citizens' access to solving environmental problems.
The newly appointed Country Director in Kazakhstan has a detailed understanding of such relevant issues as climate agenda, adaptation and mitigation technologies, advancement of green technologies and development of carbon markets.
When working in the government agencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, he tackled environmental problems at the local and country levels.
Throughout his career in t, he was involved in solving environmental problems at the local and country levels and held office:
· Head of the Department of State Environmental Control of the RSE "Department of Ecology for the Aktobe region of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control", Aktobe city
· Head of the Departments of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Astana city
· Director of the Department of State Policy in Waste Management, Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Astana city
· General Director of the RSE "Information and Analytical Center for Environmental Protection", Astana city
His contribution to addressing environmental problems was recognized with the State Medal “Ecology of Salasyn Uzdigi”.
In 2002, Nuray Satimov graduated from Moscow State Law Academy with a specialization in legal studies. Fluent in Kazakh, Russian and English.
