On October 8, a seminar on environmental issues was held for students of the Kyrgyz National University, Faculty of Ecology. Students, master's students and teachers participated in the semonar. The seminar was held with the assistance of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek and the leadership of the Faculty of Geography, Ecology and Tourism of the Kyrgyz National University.
The seminar was conducted by the CAREC branch in Kyrgyz Republic and the Aarhus Centre on the following topics:
· Awareness of the population and organizations on environmental issues;
· CAREC's efforts in addressing environmental issues and sustainable use of natural resources.
The students were given a very simple explanation of the mission of CAREC and the Aarhus Centre, opportunities to work in our organisations, the use of a resource base for students and postgraduates when writing their theses, undergoing industrial training and involvement in project activities.
At the “Questions and Answers” session, the seminar participants were interested in issues of waste and garbage recycling, development of ecotourism, negative impacts of industrial enterprises on the environment and ways to solve them, organization of joint environmental campaigns and participation in various conferences and forums.
At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed gratitude for holding the event and proposed holding a scientific and practical conference for the entire university on environmental issues and environmental education.
