Publication date: 17 June 2024

On 15 July in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) a Regional Policy Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) will be held within the framework of the REAP project funded by the EU SWITCH-Asia programme.  The main objective of the Roundtable is to create a dialogue platform for representatives of the government sector and development organisations from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, to develop regional strategies and mechanisms to promote the introduction of SCP practices in industrial sectors.

•           Enhance Regional Cooperation: Strengthen the collaborative ties between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in promoting SCP in industry sectors.

•           Identify and Utilize Existing Frameworks: Review and build on existing regional cooperation frameworks to support SCP initiatives. Identify successful SCP practices and policies that can be adapted and implemented regionally.

•           Develop Regional Mechanisms: Brainstorm and draft regional mechanisms to facilitate SCP adoption in industry sectors. Utilize a proven policy mechanism development methodology to guide the creation of actionable and effective strategies.

•           Facilitate Knowledge Sharing: Create a platform for exchanging knowledge, experiences, and best practices related to SCP. Encourage dialogue on challenges and opportunities in implementing SCP in industry sectors.

•           Draft Policy Recommendations: Develop comprehensive policy recommendations that promote SCP in industry sectors. Ensure that these recommendations are actionable and tailored to the regional context of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

•           Ensure Broad Dissemination: Share the outcomes and policy recommendations of the roundtable with relevant governmental and non-governmental organizations in both countries and to other Central Asia countries.
