CAREC Head Outlines Priorities for CACCC-2026: Investment, Partnership, and Regional Solutions

Publication date: 24 April 2026

In his speech on April 22, 2026, at CACCC-2026, Batyr Mammedov, Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), emphasized that climate risks in Central Asia are transboundary in nature and therefore require coordinated solutions based on solidarity, cooperation, and regional collaboration. In this context, the CACCC-2026 conference is seen not merely as an annual event, but as a sustained platform that fosters trust among countries, helps build a shared understanding of priorities, and promotes practical joint actions.

He noted that previous editions of CACCC-2026 have already proven their value as a platform for aligning approaches, strengthening partnerships, and advancing regional initiatives. In particular, CACCC-2026-2025 played an important role in preparing the region for a new cycle of global climate negotiations, strengthening dialogue on updated national priorities and enhancing engagement with international partners and financial institutions.

Speaking about CACCC-2026-2026, Batyr Mammedov stressed that the conference marks a transition to a new phase—from declarations and strategies to practical implementation. The focus is on investments, concrete projects, and systemic solutions aimed at fulfilling updated national climate commitments, advancing adaptation measures, and mobilizing climate finance, including through greater involvement of the private sector.

It was also highlighted that the region’s climate agenda should be viewed more broadly than just its environmental dimension, encompassing economic, social, and investment aspects. The conference program covers areas such as landscape restoration, climate risk management, methane emission reduction, the “One Health” approach, development of water-energy cooperation, renewable energy, as well as the implementation of practical climate finance mechanisms and expansion of partnerships with the business sector.

Central Asia is gradually becoming an active participant in international processes. The region has the potential not only to be seen as a zone of vulnerability, but also as a space for introducing innovative solutions, advancing sustainable natural resource management, and shaping new models of cooperation.
