General information

The project will enable proactive and coordinated participation of Central Asia countries at the 28th UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP) in Dubai, UAE. The project will implement a set of complementary activities to raise awareness of delegations of the Central Asian countries on climate finance, evidence-based decision making, and mechanisms of regional cooperation. The project will provide on-site support for informed decisions by national delegates during the COP28, build momentum for next COPs and maximize gains of Central Asia countries from participation at the UNFCCC COPs.

Target groups

Representatives from parliaments, MFAs and state structures responsible for climate change issues from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Goals and objectives:

- Capacity building, public awareness raising and delegates from Central Asian countries with participation of UNFCCC focal points, key national and international development partners on COP28;

- Development of 2 joint statements (1) on behalf of governments, (2) NGOs and youth of Central Asian countries;

- Support productive, knowledge-based participation of Central Asian delegates at COP28.

- Establishment of a Central Asian Pavilion at COP28
