We invite you to participate in a series of media trainings by Deutsche Welle (DW) for young scientists and specialists in the field of sustainable development, ecology, and climate change. The training will be held in Almaty at the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia's (CAREC) office (Orbita 1, 40).
Training schedule:
1) September 30 and October 1 (2 days) from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM – offline, at the CAREC building
Program: Media Training and Public Appearance (how to engage with the media, public speaking, on-camera practice)
Trainers: Constanze Abratzky and Klaudia Pape
Participants: 8 young scientists and specialists
2) October 3-4 (2 days) from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM – offline, at CAREC
Dealing with disinformation (understanding the concept of disinformation, strategies to combat disinformation, what is prebunking, communication strategies against disinformation in the environmental field)
Trainers: Constanze Abratzky and Klaudia Pape
Participants: 8 young scientists and specialists
3) October 22-23 (2 days, depending on the group) from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM – online
Interview and Press Conference
Participants: 8 young scientists and specialists
4) November 21-22 (2 days) from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM – online
Digital Comm. + Disinformation (Using social media appropriately, managing accounts effectively, understanding algorithms, creating netiquette, dealing with hate speech and “shitstorms,” understanding and applying community management)
Participants: 8 young scientists and specialists
5) December 02-03 – offline

The knowledge gained during the training can be applied in your future work. The trainers are ready to adapt the training program to your needs and requests. The training language will be English (with consecutive interpretation).
We would greatly appreciate confirmation of your participation by September 20, 2024. Due to the limited number of available spots, we kindly ask you to confirm your commitment to participate in all the trainings, including both online and offline formats. We also request that you provide a resume or a brief biography in English, which will be shared with the trainers for informational purposes.
The training is intended for those residing in Almaty, Kazakhstan. If you are from another country or city, your travel and accommodation costs will not be covered.
Upon completion of the training, participants will receive certificates.
